Building on the momentum of our empowerment outreach where students crafted scrabble and chess boards from local materials, Nicok Integrated Solutions in partnership with UNICEK Hope for Africa charity foundation and Nicholas and Dr. Ihunia Health and Hope Charity foundation birthed the Nicok Fun Challenge to bring students and enthusiast all over the word to compete in critical thinking and IQ stimulating games. This initiative is not just for the feel of competition  but to stimulate minds, encourage critical thinking and problem solving and also to give back to the society with rewards.  The NiCok Fun Challenge inter-school scrabble and chess competition, made a spectacular start with the opening ceremony leaving a lasting impression on students, teachers, and spectators alike. The event brought together talented students from accredited schools to compete in these strategic board games, showcasing their skills, sportsmanship, and passion.

Highlights of the opening ceremony:

The opening ceremony began with a warm welcome from the event host Mr. Kingsley Uboh, followed by the introduction of dignitaries and officials present. Brief history of Nicok integrated Solutions and Nicok Fun Challenge was delivered by Mr Osuji Okechukwu the director of digital services & e-learning. He emphasized on the rationale behind this initiative Nicok fun challenge and the significance of promoting IQ stimulating games among students.

The chairman NiCok Integrated Solutions, Dr. Nicholas Kekeocha gave his opening remark via zoom the chairman welcomed every participant in attendance, re-emphasized the dream behind Nicok fun challenge and encouraged everyone to give their best as they compete.

The Chairperson Teenagers Mind Restructuring Initiative (TMRI) one of the guest speakers gave her speech via zoom, encouraging the students to have a positive mindset to learning and growing into responsible adults.

Also Mrs Rebecca Ugwuanya gave a fun and enlightening presentation on IQ games with quiz questions and feedback from students as she did her presentation. This set the tone for the exciting game ahead.

Thereafter the rules and regulations of the games where explained by the officiating team led by Engr Bede Korie, Scrabble Coach Imo State Scrabble Club.

Round 1 Games:

The first round of games was played which featured the scrabble doubles and chess doubles game. Students showcased their skills, determination, and passion for scrabble and chess, making it a closely contested round. Two students from a school were paired with another team of two students from another school in a round robin arrangement. The first round was played out of the 9 rounds to be played in the competition.

For scrabble, the competition was fierce, with students employing various tactics to outmaneuver their opponents and gather high points. In chess players demonstrated exceptional strategic thinking, skills in opening, middle-game, and endgame strategies, with some making remarkable comebacks against their opponents.

The opening ceremony of the NiCok Fun Challenge inter-school scrabble and chess competition was a resounding success, setting the stage for a thrilling tournament.
