Role Overview
We are looking for a capable and motivated Mid-Level Software Engineer to join our remote engineering team. You will contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of web applications and APIs across our product portfolio. You will work closely with product leads and fellow engineers to ship features that matter, write clean and maintainable code, and help uphold our engineering standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain full-stack web applications and RESTful APIs.
- Build and manage backend services using Node.js and PHP, with MySQL as the primary data store.
- Develop modern, responsive front-end interfaces using Next.js and TypeScript.
- Manage database schemas and queries using Prisma ORM alongside raw SQL where appropriate.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate product requirements into technical solutions.
- Participate in code reviews, contributing constructive feedback and upholding code quality standards.
- Write unit and integration tests, and maintain documentation for your work.
- Proactively identify and resolve bugs, performance bottlenecks, and technical debt.
- Contribute to architectural discussions and engineering best-practice initiatives.
Required Skills & Experience
4–6 years of professional software engineering experience, with proven hands-on proficiency in the following:
- JavaScript & TypeScript — strong command of modern ES syntax, type safety, and async patterns.
- Node.js — building and maintaining scalable REST APIs and server-side services.
- Next.js — server-side rendering, API routes, app router, and front-end architecture.
- MySQL — schema design, query optimisation, indexing strategies, and migrations.
- Prisma ORM — schema-first data modelling, migrations, and query building.
- PHP — developing and maintaining server-side applications or WordPress-based systems.
- Version control with Git — branching strategies, pull requests, and collaborative workflows.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Firebase Authentication or other identity providers.
- Familiarity with WordPress plugin development.
- Exposure to Docker, CI/CD pipelines, or cloud deployment platforms (e.g. Render, AWS, GCP).
- Understanding of OpenAPI / Swagger documentation standards.
- Experience working in agile or remote-first engineering teams.
