On September 12, 2024 Osuji Okechukwu (Education Director)and Nicholas Kekeocha (CEO) (who joined virtually from the United States of America) anchored a performance review and process improvement session with the teachers of the school. 27 teachers attended the session and we engaged them on how they can help improve their teaching methodology and shape the future of the students. We analysed with them the students academic performance summary for the last academic session. They pointed at the following challenges about the structure that impacts negatively on the students learning.
👉🏻 Seperation of best performing students and the poor performing students such that the bright students are put in A class, average in B and the struggling students in C. They acknowledged that the C students tend to feel bad that they are treated as such. It was deliberated to a conclusion that it will be better to mix up the students so they bright ones will support the not-too bright ones.
👉🏻 The issue of too many subjects was also pointed at as it was observed that a subject review should be done and properly looked into so that the students will be focused.
👉🏻 The exam committee were admonished to step up in their task and properly scrutinise the set questions for every term exams.
Many recommendations were discussed and made amongst which includes
👉🏻 Teachers monitoring and appraisals will be done periodically and teachers that are doing well will be singled out and rewarded for their efforts.
👉🏻 Reducing the marks for the exams thereby focusing on class assessments and on-the-spot exams such that mini assessments/exams should be carried out for every topic that was taught before proceeding to another. Accommodation of those assessments will form their major evaluation.
The teachers were happy and thankful about the session and promised to put in their best and strive towards excellence.
The 3 hours engagement session came to an end with the company promising to encourage all the teachers in full attendance with a sum of N10,000 each. The Chairman of the teachers welfare association on behalf of the teachers thanked NiCoK integrated solutions for their efforts in helping the school improve and strive towards academic excellence.
